20th Annual HumanGood Foundation Golf Classic Raises Money for Programming

golf-carts.jpgThe HumanGood Foundation Golf Classic took place on October 24 at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, California. Sponsored by Sodexo, as well as several other national brands, this year marked 20 years of community member involvement in raising money for the HumanGood Foundation’s Affordable Housing Grant Fund, the organization that provides programming and support to residents living in their communities who need it.

In addition to a round of golf and a special dinner, attendees participated in a live auction. This year, due to the generosity of many guests, the event raised more than $200,000 for the foundation, which is roughly $50,000 more than what the organization raised last year. To date, the foundation has raised enough money to fund $1.2 million in grants to its affordable housing communities.

To emphasize the importance of these funds, it’s necessary to understand that while the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development regulates affordable housing for seniors, it does not provide any programming. Therefore, one of foundation’s mission pillars is to focus on providing grants that add enhancements to affordable senior living, such as transportation services, wellness classes, translation services and computer training, which enable and encourage residents to live out meaningful and healthy lives.

More than 30 team members volunteered at the event, which included team members from affordable housing.

“The Golf Classic is the most successful fundraising event that we throw each year and it has become an enjoyable and meaningful way to support our residents,” says Jeff Glaze, president of the foundation.

“The generosity and philanthropic spirit of both the volunteers and participants is so inspiring, and it warms my heart to hear the stories of the residents who benefit from their kindness.”
