A season of giving back

Happy holidays to all! Team members and residents across HumanGood jumped into the holiday spirit by spreading cheer to military families, children in need and to seniors in the local surrounding areas. Below is a highlight the good cheer shared!

Affordable housing department

Our affordable housing team played Santa to more than 30 residents in our affordable housing communities through their annual Holiday Wish List gift program.   

Las Ventanas

Las Ventanas team members and residents visited children at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center carrying bags full of toys including teddy bears and wooden trucks. Delivering lap robes made by our very own residents, the Las Ventanas crew also plans to visit the veterans living at the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City.

Judson Park

At the Village, our skilled nursing center, the team has coordinated the ‘Village Giving Tree’ for this holiday season. The team wanted to ensure that each resident at the Village had a gift to open on Christmas Day.

Plymouth Village

Plymouth Village kicked into high gear this holiday season. Team members and residents held a food and coat drive in support of Family Service Association of Redlands. Also, they made blankets for Loma Linda Hospital’s tiny patients in the pediatric intensive care unit as part of “Operation Christmas Blankets.” Lastly, the dining team hosted a holiday dinner for YouthHope, a local nonprofit organization that serves the at-risk, underprivileged, runaway and homeless youth.

Regents Point

For a seventh straight year, Regents Point residents and team members collected toys and other gifts for local Marines and their families. The community’s toy drive, which kicked off in late November, is part of a citywide initiative to support the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee. Team members also fulfilled holiday wishes for local seniors through the Smile Makers Guild event. 

Rosewood

Rosewood residents, team members and their families gave back this year to their local community and internationally. Locally, they made and delivered blankets to the local homeless shelters; and they held a food drive for the Gleaners, a community food bank. Also in partnership with the First Presbyterian Church, residents and team members packed more than 100 shoeboxes with a variety of toys and necessary supplies to send to children across the globe, as part of “Operation Christmas Child.” This program, which supports children affected by war, poverty, feminine, disease and natural disasters, is run by international relief organization Samaritan’s Purse.  

The Terraces at Los Altos

The Terraces at Los Altos residents and team members hosted a food drive to support Second Harvest Food Bank of San Marcos and San Mateo. This is the seventh year the community has held a food drive and their goal for this year’s drive was to collect about 450 pounds in food. Separately, a group of residents participated in an effort to write and send holiday cards to the men and women who are serving overseas in the military. And lastly, residents and team members took part in the Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree program which supports local families in need. 

The Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens

Residents and team members at the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens held a food drive in support of the Central California Food Bank (200 cans). They also helped the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, collecting over 800 toiletries and other necessities for the inmates. For the Central California SPCA, they collected towels, blankets, and other items. And lastly, the hosted their annual Toys for Tots campaign, which ended on Dec. 13.

Valle Verde

Tucked away in the elaborate hobby shop at Valle Verde, residents spent the better part of year creating custom-made toys and clothing to be donated to the Unity Shoppe, a local nonprofit organization that serves low-income children, families and seniors.
