HumanGood and HUD host Federal, state and local representatives at Philadelphia affordable housing check presentation

February 15, 2024—This week, three HumanGood affordable housing communities in Philadelphia were presented a check from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) totaling $26.48 million in grants from its Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP). The communities were the only ones in the Commonwealth that received funding under the Comprehensive Category in its first wave. HumanGood team members spoke alongside Congressman Dwight Evans, State Representative Amen Brown and Philadelphia Councilmen Mark Squilla and Jeffery Young, Jr. Congressman Evans emphasized that “we are all working together” at all levels of government to provide safe, affordable housing for vulnerable residents.

The event was held at HumanGood’s Riverside Presbyterian Apartments, which was an award recipient along with Tioga Presbyterian Apartments and Jackson Place. The communities will use the funds to create more energy-efficient and climate resilient features, ultimately impacting and preserving 329 senior affordable housing units.

The award comes after HUD announced its $173.9 million in new loans and grants under the GRRP for low-income households. This program is part of Investing in America, a Biden Administration initiative to improve affordable multifamily housing while combatting climate change.
