Dr. Thomas Berne, a retired surgeon and resident advisory board member at Royal Oaks, our HumanGood community in Bradbury, Calif., passed away last week. Dr. Berne, an influential leader in his community, was president of the resident executive council and was a proponent of emergency preparedness at the community. He was a former educator, a noted ham radio enthusiast and was also influential in getting residents CERT (community emergency response team) certified to help in case of a disaster.
Dr. Berne is survived by his wife, Cynthia. They came to Royal Oaks in 2013 and are well-known throughout the community.
