Shelly Smart, our new executive director at White Sands La Jolla

December 16, 2022 -- We are pleased to announce that Shelly Smart has accepted the position of executive director for White Sands La Jolla effective December 16. Shelly is currently the interim executive director at White Sands, and has been in this position since July 2022. Prior to assuming this role, she was the health services administrator for White Sands from May 2017 to the present.

Shelly has done an excellent job of overseeing the community and successfully leading the community through the COVID-19 pandemic, and she and her team have positioned the community as a model to the industry for both skilled nursing and RCFE areas. She first joined HumanGood in March 2010 as the director of dining services at Redwood Town Court, and later transitioned to working directly for Morrison Living from 2012 to 2017 as the director of dining services for White Sands.

Shelly received her bachelor’s degree in dietetics in her home state of Michigan, and is a fully licensed administrator, holding licenses as a California Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and a Residential Care for the Elderly administrator. Shelly and her husband have three sons, and in her free time she enjoys hiking with family and friends.
