November 14, 2024 – During World War II, branches of the military created women’s reserve programs. At this time, women weren’t allowed to serve in combat roles, but these reserve programs allowed women to replace men at the base stations so more men could deploy.
From 1944 – 1946, Mae Warner, resident at The Mansion at Rosemont, , enlisted in the Coast Guard women’s reserve, known as SPARS. Hear more about Mae’s inspiring story as she sat down with Fox29 here.
To honor veterans like Mae, The Mansion at Rosemont invited cadets from the Valley Forge Military Academy to their annual Veteran’s Day luncheon. The cadets offered words of thanks and veterans shared their stories from their time in the service. You can watch CBS Philadelphia’s coverage of the event here.
