October 15, 2022 -- A fire broke out on Friday, October 14 at our Grand Lake Gardens life plan community in Oakland. The fire broke out at approximately 6:00 AM PT in an apartment on the fifth floor of the building, and was brought under control at 7:30 AM by the Oakland fire department. No residents were injured, but several people were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. All are stable, and two have been discharged from the hospital. The building has not been reopened for occupancy, and suitable temporary housing accommodations have been identified for all residents. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
