Update on Grand Lake Gardens: October 25, 2022

October 25, 2022 -- This is an update on the fire that broke out at Grand Lake Gardens on Friday, October 14.

The building has not been reopened for occupancy, and suitable temporary housing accommodations have been identified for nearly all Grand Lake Gardens residents. A group of residents are staying at Piedmont Gardens, our sister community in Oakland, and another group are staying at a local hotel with support from the Grand Lake Gardens team. The balance of our residents are staying with friends and family.

This week, our top priority is to secure senior living arrangements for all our residents – those in the hotel, as well as those living with family members. Our goal is to have accommodations for everyone identified in the next few days. From there, we will continue to coordinate the moves, as furniture becomes available.

We remain incredibly grateful for the Grand Lake Gardens community, the wider HumanGood family, and the swift response from the Oakland fire department. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
