Updates to our HumanGood leadership team

September 18, 2024 – At HumanGood, innovation is one of our core values and we plan to structure and accelerate our efforts in this area by building an innovation team. We are pleased to announce that Andrew Smith, executive director of Royal Oaks and Westminster Gardens, has accepted the role of Vice President, Operations and Innovation, for HumanGood.

Andrew has been a highly effective executive director, leading efforts to lower team member turnover and bring both communities to financial success. He also helped to position the communities as a future innovation hub for developing and piloting new solutions that inspire the best life for all of our residents and team members, across life plan and affordable housing.

In his new role as Vice President, Operations and Innovation, Andrew will leverage his past experience of building and leading an innovation team at Brookdale Senior Living to direct our innovation efforts, engaging residents and team members in the process. He will also continue to support Royal Oaks and Westminster Gardens as Vice President of Operations and will serve as interim executive director during this transition.

We are pleased to announce that Daniel Williams has joined HumanGood as our new Vice President of Hospitality.

Originally from London, Daniel brings 29 years of experience in the restaurant industry to HumanGood. Before joining us, Daniel owned and operated two bistros in Paris, and then was with King’s Seafood Company and Sage Restaurant Concepts, a division of Sage Hospitality. In his previous roles, Daniel oversaw operations for a variety of high-profile restaurant concepts in the West Coast, such as Michael Mina’s Wit and Wisdom in Sonoma. In this new role, he will oversee and manage culinary operations in our life plan communities, with a focus on food quality, taste and a personalized dining experience that consistently creates positive and memorable experiences for our residents, team members and their guests.

Daniel will also help us create more personalized and consistent dining experiences, with delicious food options that make up an on-brand, cohesive dining program in all levels of living (independent, assisted, memory support and skilled communities) and all community venues.

We are also pleased to announce two leaders who recently joined HumanGood in Healthcare Services and Affordable Housing.

In August, Michael Scates joined HumanGood as our new Vice President, Healthcare Operations. He joins Senior Vice President, Healthcare Services, Phil Chuang and Vice President, Healthcare Quality and Regulatory, Miki Kim, in leading day-to-day operations of our CSC Healthcare team. Prior to joining HumanGood, Michael was the vice president, Continuum of Care for the Northern California region of Kaiser Permanente, where he worked to ensure access to healthcare services for 4.5 million members in that region across all post-acute care settings.

Earlier this month, Teresa Ichsan joined HumanGood as our new Vice President, Resident Services, Affordable Housing. Teresa comes to HumanGood with more than 20 years of affordable housing and resident services and she will lead our Affordable Housing Resident Services team, helping our residents stay connected with community services, as well as bringing services to our communities through universities, health plans and other partners.
