July Shuler, a member of the Plymouth Village advisory board, is also a faculty member of the department of communicative disorders at the University of Redlands. Thanks to her connection to the course, Plymouth Village residents and team members have been able to support the students.
In February, Executive Director Keith Kasin provided a lecture to the students enrolled in the aging and communications course which was well received by the students. The students also were able to visit the community and meet with our residents to talk about lessons learned and healthy aging.
The collaboration between the university and Plymouth Village was so successful that the professors plan to continue working with the community on future projects.
