On February 8, Valle Verde team member artists were honored at a reception organized by “Art From the Heart.” This committee is headed by artist and Valle Verde resident Louise Carey, who regularly teaches art classes on campus. Many artists from our team were featured. Michael Drummond, a featured artist and part of our Life Enrichment team, said his favorite painting in the exhibit was an idyllic sunset he calls “Tranquility,” in addition to colorful paintings of animals and flowers. Also featured was Sarah McClintock, a nurse in our Residential Clinic. Sarah exhibited paintings of her favorite dogs and a “Pieta,” inspired by Botticelli. Mary Pat Moloney, our part-time concierge, displayed paintings utilizing water colors and tissue paper, a technique called “mixed media collage,” taught to her by a life-long Santa Barbara artist. Last, but not least, Janis Johansson, also a member of the Life Enrichment team, displayed among other animal paintings, a favorite painting of a sloth, her “spirit animal,” which she became enamored with on a vacation in Costa Rica.
Congratulations to our team members who are appreciated for their dedicated service to Valle Verde residents and their extraordinary talent!
