Giving back and doing good for others has always been at the heart of what Mike and Linda do. Now, they’re carrying this way of life into retirement, and The Mansion at Rosemont is their home for continuing this legacy.
Their work giving back to others started years ago when they began working with Daylesford Abbey in the greater Philadelphia area. Mike’s work with the Abbey involves serving on several outreach committees, one of which is focused on assisting refugees.
For the last 12 years, Linda has been a Stephen Leader through Stephen Ministry at Daylesford Abbey. Stephen Ministry is a nonprofit organization focused on providing care to people experiencing difficult times in their lives. As a Stephen Leader, Linda supports others who are grieving the loss of a spouse, their health or a job. She finds her work listening to and supporting those who have experienced such profound loss to be deeply rewarding.
Once they moved to The Mansion at Rosemont, they continued their work of loving their neighbors and assisting others in their community. First, they took time to truly get to know their neighbors, the history of the community and even the team members who are integral to the community.
“From the very beginning, we enjoyed listening to everyone’s life stories and were so impressed with the fascinating, smart and, frankly, wise people who make up the fabric of this community,” Linda says.
Mike and Linda very quickly started embracing the rich social and cultural environment that is part of The Mansion at Rosemont. Soon after moving to the community, Linda started taking art classes in The Mansion’s beautiful art studio.
“There’s nothing better than spending hours learning new ways to create pieces with different types of paint in this beautiful space,” she says. “Every class offers me an opportunity to learn something new, which is good for my heart and soul.”
They also quickly got to work making a positive and beautiful impact on their community. To show their appreciation for the team members who make an empowering and vibrant community possible, they co-chair the Team Member Appreciation Fund Committee, which raises money for annual team member bonuses.
“I believe this is one of the most important committees at The Mansion at Rosemont,” Mike says. “The team members give so much of themselves each day, and we are appreciative of their efforts. It’s nice to know that we have a way to recognize and properly thank them.”
Their work within the community doesn’t stop there. They’re also part of the Dining Committee and Good Neighbor Committee, where they ensure every new resident who moves to the community feels welcomed as soon as they step foot on campus.
Mike and Linda focus on doing good for others across all facets of the community, including bringing pure joy to others through creative outlets. They’re both members of the Rosemont Players, which is a theater production group in the community. Mike works as an actor in the group, and Linda has found joy in running tech and lighting in her role as a stage crew manager.
“These productions give us a creative outlet, and it’s fun to be a part of something that brings joy and entertainment to the whole community,” Linda says.
Mike adds, “Giving back and supporting others has always been a way of life for us. We are grateful for the neighbors we now call friends here at The Mansion.”
